Who am I...

I've spent a few years wondering about just that. It's a lot easier to tell you about what I'm interested in and what I do than to let you know who I am - what does that cover, anyway? Is it decided by the stars at my birth, the influence of my parents, or is it in my power to recreate myself as I want to be?

Personally, I believe the last option is the case, and I've been trying to do that since I left home in 1989. I believe I've succeeded, to the point where I was so different to who I used to be, I felt my name didn't fit me anymore, and changed it. That's quite a few years back, now.

As you probably guessed, I'm a bit of a philosopher. I love to question. The more established the tradition, the more fun I have poking holes in it. Probably one reason why the system usually doesn't like me much. That, and the fact that I'm always finding ways to work the rules and regulations to my own advantage. I have my own ethics, thank you, and I was VERY good at debating!

For those of you who believe in the value of education, I have a Uni degree. It's a B.A. in Psychology followed by Honours in Social & Policy studies in Education. The next question is usually: "What job does that get you?" The answer: None. I don't believe in specialisation. Unfortunately, a lot of employers do, so for quite a while "none" was the only possible answer :-/

In any case, I finished it, and after a few lean years supporting myself with temp and casual jobs because I was overqualified for everything, now I'm in a career position which I love and which allows me to combine what I learnt, with the skills I've picked up working my way through, and throw in a bit of the computer stuff I love (been doing that for so many years now, even if I don't have a piece of paper to say so. Troubleshooting, support and design are my favourite parts...)

Now for the usual statistical garbage. I've been around for 34 years, am 5'4" (163cm) and I'm a Capricorn. Being one is supposed to mean that I age in reverse. Being Irish as well, you can imagine the confusion. I was a very mature kid going through school, and now that I'm older (?) and working, with a little money to play with, I'm splashing out and experiencing a delayed youth. I'm not into the nightclubbing scene much, mainly because I'm a non-smoking vegetarian and like to breathe, but I do enjoy other kinds of fun. I drink (and by that I mean alcohol. If I were referring to water I'd have to say I don't drink nearly enough!) I enjoy company and I love a walk on a beach or a good movie with a friend, although now I'm in a relationship as well as working full-time I don't get a lot of chances to do things like that anymore!

I don't mind cooking, and am pretty good at it, but can usually not be bothered when it's just for me, so evenings I usually just come home, do a bit of reading or force myself to do chores, or occasionally indulge in my favourite, soaking in a scented bath with some nice background music and the lights down low, and then dropping off to sleep.

As I mentioned, I'm no longer single - coming up to 2 1/2 years now, and along with my 2 cockatiels/quarrions, it's a nice change from coming home to an empty and silent flat. I did that for a long time there, a few years back...

That's pretty much me in a nutshell. If you're interested, follow the links to my astrology chart, or numerology, or whatever else I've found to include, and enjoy.
Take care, and catch you round!
